having seen in history how the catholic church/roman empire systematically wiped the gnostics from the face of the earth and attempted to do the same with all of their writings, i find it appalling when lies are told to this very day about what really happened in the first 300 years of "christianity".

regardless of what you might believe about the gnostics, they had a right to live and breathe on this earth just like anyone else.

to defend the church's position and say that it was the gnostics that "corrupted christianity" is not only woefully ignorant, but in my opinion, is like a nod of agreement that these people were a threat to the church and deserved to die.

John is the most gnostic book in the bible, I have no idea why Constantine would put this in, maybe it's in accordance with the rest of the theology but its hard not to call it gnostic.

I am guilty for tattling, this was about a girl I liked and he was close friends to her (they attended the same book study)), I asked if they were going out repeatedly which he denied, eventually I made a move (not much of a move), she didnt want to speak to me and he said she was not interested. It turned out they were secretly going out, she would just show up at his place un-invited, now we had been buddies for years, what upset me was he didn't trust me, lied and made me look like a tool. he also had like a double life so people in the truth thought him to be very spiritual while with I always found him to be normal.

Jealousy got the best of me, I told a truth he trusted me not to tell anyone, he owned a plastic replica of a semi-auto hand gun that fires palletes, and its illegal in this state to own one, so I told one "sister" and the rumour spread like wild fire. He's father being an elder perhaps helped, he didnt loose any privileges, the helder (his father) spoke to me after a meeting in a small room, asked if new anything about this, I lied, the elder trying to explain that a pallete gun isn't any different to a water gun, I lied and denied any involvement. I could have made the situation a lot worse by going straight to the police but I didn't.

Now that a look back, I wish I didn't waste any time in jw girls, politics or the "truth".

Has Gambling Become A Conscience Issue Among JWs?

the reason i ask is that i have a coupe of cousins who are still jws who have gone gambling in casinos with us.

i have a brother-in-law who openly brags about his "perfect" blackjack strategy he employs in vegas when he's in town.. i know that growing up as a jw, gambling of any kind was a dfing offense.. is my jw family simply more liberal than most, or has there been a subtle shift in this area since i've been out?.

Abraham convinces Jehovah not to blow up Sodom....why is God such an Angry Bastard who needs advice?

in genesis jehovah tells abraham he's going to nuke sodom off the map, but the more reasonable then god abraham says "please jehovah do not get hot with anger with me, but what if three men who are good ae found in sodom....." etc etc.

so here we have a god being given good, merciful advice from his servant abraham.....personally i would rather worship abraham, praise his holy name...jehovah can burn in hell!!!!

007: that's the same impression I got when I read the first 5 books, Genesis seems to be more balanced, the rest is more blooshed and laws. I believe these are not the original accounts of Moses, they were burned and had to be re-written by Ezra.

KIT availability

i have questions about this book:.

is it still able to be ordered at the counter?.

would this be a book that many people that are currently jw's aware of?.

Teary Oberon: the reason why I ask this is because the KIT on John 1.1 differs to the Insight volumes regarding john 1.1 and I just wanted to know because of this if the KIT is still attainable, my other question was I want to know if anyone (I mean anyone) like a muslim/apostate could walk into a kingdom hall and ask for the KIT.

"Why would you overreact and impute ill motives to a simple and understandable question, especially if the person asking the question couldn't think of any practical reason why you would ever want a KIT? What do YOU have to hide?"

This does not sound like a book attainable to the public, if I ask for NWT or a Awake magazine nobody is not going to ask the question. I did ask for WT CD-rom a year ago, I never was asked why I wanted it and never received one. So are there any pre-requisites for ordering the Wathctower cd-rom?

I want to know so I can ask the barrister of the supreme court of New South Wales to see if this is legal.
